JoyLoop

A light, loose and loopy variable typeface crafted for letterwriting

JoyLoop is a variable typeface inspired by the nostalgic charm of typewriter fonts, specifically the Monica Script Olympia typewriter. Created using the Glyph application, JoyLoop captures the essence of traditional script typefaces with a modern twist.

JoyLoop was developed during a time of joyful exploration into the art of letter writing and penpalling. It embodies the spirit of connection and communication, aiming to enhance the tactile pleasure of handwritten correspondence in the digital age.

JoyLoop is optimized for print, ideally suited for body text and experimental display headers. The typeface is designed for personal letters, invitations, and creative projects. With its variable nature, JoyLoop offers flexibility and customization, ensuring that each use feels unique and personal.

JoyLoop is intended to recognize the celebration of the joy found in the written word, designed to bring a smile to both the writer and the reader.

Variability

JoyLoop’s variability offers significant advantages, including flexibility and adaptability in design. This variability allows for dynamic adjustments in weight, width, and style, providing a broad spectrum of typographic expressions from a single typeface. As a result, JoyLoop can effortlessly transition from delicate, cursive scripts suitable for intimate letters to bold, eye-catching forms ideal for robust display applications.

Contextual Altneratives

JoyLoop utilizes coding to create contextual alternatives, allowing for an auto-randomization of the weight of each letter. This feature mimics the natural variations produced by typewriters, where the weight of each character changes based on the pressure applied to the keys, adding an authentic, tactile quality to the text.
